Collection: POLWARTH

This Polwarth fibre is delightfully springy but so so soft.  Polwarth has its breed origins in a cross breed between Lincoln and Merino sheep which means it has softness from the Merino, but some lustre and length from the Lincoln.  It is absolutely next-to-skin soft for most people, and after spinning it puffs up delightfully!

This fibre is not Superwash treated, so it will felt.  Please take care when washing this if you are NOT looking for a felted application!

High quality acid dyes are used and are rinsed in order to prevent bleeding of colour, however some colours may leech slightly. To avoid this I recommend using cold to room temperature water with a wool wash such as Soak or Eucalan in order to prevent transfer of colour. Also, although many yarns are labeled as “Superwash”, I recommend hand washing all knitted items in order to prolong their life and colour.

Each 100g (minimum) braid of fibre is dyed by me, and as such there may be small variations between dye lots. The braids have been photographed in natural light to give you the most accurate representation of colours, but please be aware that screens can differ slightly. I cannot guarantee that your device's display of any colour will be exactly as seen by eye. If you require further images of any skeins before purchase, please let me know, I’d be happy to help!
